Gerri teaches at Brisbane Girls Grammar School and is the Director of the Dorothy Hill Observatory, hosting six telescopes (five remote) about two hours away from the city campus. Since 2018, she has been developing her school’s observational astronomy program, which sees students use the observatory inside and outside of the classroom.

Andrea teaches at Maples Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her most recent claim to fame being the recipient of the 2024 (Canadian) Prime Ministers Award for Teaching Excellence. She is currently working on the David Lane Star Finder Legacy Program for high school students using the 0.61m Burke-Gaddney Observatory. 

Together Gerri and Andrea will engage us and each other in a lively discussion on how to integrate robotic telescopes into the school curriculum, the opportunities presented, the barriers to this and how they can be overcome.
