Ever since the first RTSRE, we have always included a significant student section to the conference and this one is no different! This time we have a pair of accomplished young astronomers involved with research with robotic telescopes, Tristan Wood and Jett Peters!

Tristan Wood, student at Eltham College, has developed from a keen student in 2021 engaging with the two (now three!) telescopes at the College (a CDK17 and a RASA11) into now leading and teaching other students to do research with the schools telescopes. In particular, he has used the widefield (4 deg x 3 deg) RASA11” to search for variable stars and then to follow the more interesting ones up with the CDK17. He has one publication (https://apps.aavso.org/jaavso/…) and two more in review. He also works on trying to tackle 2500 images over three nights each containing three million stars from DECAM!

 Jett Peters, (just ex-)student from Stanford Online High School and heading to Duke University to study astrophysics, has an extensive history in doing research during high school. Starting in 2022, Jett has researched double stars and participated in a variety of projects culminating in a large first-author paper where he led over 30 students to observe and measure 43 different exoplanet targets (https://apps.aavso.org/jaavso/…). When not doing research in astronomy, Jett is the ‘blogger in residence’ at Utah Desert Remote Observatories hunting nebula across the skies with his Sky-Watcher Esprit 100ED. https://utahdesertremote.com/blog/
