This talk will look at the idea of astronomy for education from two perspectives. The first is an international perspective in the context of International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Education whose objective is to enable and support teachers, and educators from around the world to take advantage of the potential offered by Astronomy in engaging students. This involves curation of high quality resources, promoting the benefits of a more explicit presence of astronomy in curricula globally, establishing a global network of teachers, teacher educators, and astronomers interested in education . The second perspective is a practical one encompassed by a Moodle course Strange New Worlds, that brings Exoplanet science to students and teachers. This talk will highlight the education design underpinning the course.
